Developmental Domains FAQ

Why do some scales have 4 domains while others have 5?
This is due to different classification methods. For example, the Denver II includes cognitive skills within the 'Fine Motor-Adaptive' category, whereas ASQ-3 separates it into 'Problem Solving'. More domains usually allow for a more granular assessment of specific skills.
If my child is delayed in one domain but normal in others, is it still a delay?
This is known as an 'isolated developmental delay'. It's common in areas like language or gross motor. While many children catch up with targeted support, it's important to monitor them to rule out broader developmental risks.
